RCIA
is the abbreviation for the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults.
Working in this ministry gives team members a chance to journey
with the adults preparing to enter into full communion with the
Catholic Church.
The
RCIA Ministry consists of a Coordinator, Liturgical Coordinator,
Publicity Coordinator, Social Coordinator and Sponsors.
The Coordinator maintains records of the RCIA catechumens and candidates,
keeps the attendance records, creates the yearly RCIA calendar,
serves as the Diocesan contact for the RCIA, introduces the catechumens
and candidates at the Rite of Election in St. Augustine, and oversees
other team members.
The
Liturgical Coordinator prepares the catechumens and candidates for
the RCIA rites that are performed at Mass and coordinates the activities
pertaining to the rites at the Mass.
The
Publicity Coordinator prepares the RCIA bulletin announcements and
any other RCIA publicity.
The
Social Coordinator plans social functions for the catechumens and
candidates.
Sponsors
support their candidates throughout the RCIA process by attending
the RCIA classes and attending all RCIA rites as well as the Easter
Vigil.
RCIA
classes meet weekly from early September through the following May.
Classes are held on Wednesday evenings at 7:30pm.
