St.
Matthew’s nursery provides a comfortable and secure place
to leave your child or grandchild while you attend Mass. Toddlers
are always learning and the seeds of faith are already growing in
love for them through simple song, finger plays, movement activities
and stories shared with them during this time making the nursery
a special and fun place to visit each week. The nursery is located
in the Scout Hut to the south of the rectory and is open from 8:00am
until 12:00pm on Sundays (during 8:30 & 10:30am masses). The
nursery is available for ages 6 months through 4 years.
The
parent/guardian who brings the child or children in needs to sign
them in and out on the sheet posted by the nursery door. Older children
should not drop off or pick up the children. If an adult other than
the parent/guardian has permission to pick up a child, the nursery
staff needs to be notified. Parents/guardians bringing a child to
the nursery for the first time, need to fill out a short Child Information
Sheet. Diaper bags should include diapers, plastic bottle or cup,
a change of clothes, and wet wipes. All diaper bags, sipper cups,
etc. should be labeled with the child’s name.
Children
need to be picked up as soon as possible following Mass or other
parish activity. A child should not be brought to the nursery if
he/she is not feeling well.
“Let
the little children come to me;…for it is to such as these
that the kingdom of God belongs. In truth I tell you, anyone who
does not welcome the kingdom of God like a little child will never
enter it.” Mark 10:14-15
