Scouting
is a program through which children can learn to become better citizens
and develop a strong character that he/she will use throughout their
life.
Cub
Scouts, for boys in first through fifth grades, began as part of
the Boy Scouts of America in 1930. Dens regularly meet at the Scout
Hut every Wednesday from 7:00-8:00pm. Other activities, such as
camping trips, take place on weekends. In addition to activities
sponsored by the pack, there are many district events for the boys
to participate in.
Cub
Scouting has nine purposes: To positively influence character development
and encourage spiritual growth, to help boys develop habits and
attitudes of good citizenship, to encourage good sportsmanship and
pride in growing strong in mind and body, to improve understanding
within the family, to strengthen boys’ ability to get along
with each other and respect other people, to foster a sense of personal
achievement by helping boys develop new interest and skills, to
show how to be helpful and to do one’s best, to provide fun
and exciting new things to do, to prepare boys to become Boy Scouts.
Girl
Scouts of the USA is the world’s largest organization dedicated
solely to girls. In partnership with committed adult volunteers,
girls develop leadership skills, strong values, and social conscience
that will serve them all their lives. Discover the power of girls
together. Activities include fieldtrips, sleepovers, campouts, and
many other fun programs and learning experiences.
