Ministry to the Sick and Homebound

“I was sick and you visited me…” — Matthew 25:36

Purpose
This ministry brings Christ’s healing love to parishioners who are unable to attend Mass due to illness, disability, or aging. Volunteers provide pastoral care and the Eucharist to the sick and homebound, offering comfort, connection, and spiritual support.

Responsibilities

  • Visit and pray with parishioners in nursing homes, hospitals, or in their homes
  • Bring the Eucharist to those unable to attend Mass
  • Serve with compassion, respect, and a loving heart
  • Assist at nursing home Masses on the first and third Friday mornings

Time Commitment

  • Visits take place on Saturdays and Sundays, on a rotating basis or as needed
  • Time varies depending on the number of people receiving Communion

Volunteer Requirements

  • Must be a commissioned Eucharistic Minister
  • Completion of a background check and the Protecting God’s Children course (one-time)
  • Individual training provided
